Auto-entrepreneur CFE payment timescale?

I want to set up as an auto-entrepreneur but have been advised to wait until 1 January 2017 as then I won’t be liable to the 2016 cotisation foncière des entreprises (CFE) just effectively for a few weeks. Can you confirm if this would happen if I was to register just for December?
