Auto-entrepreneur - client in other EU country

I plan to set up an auto-entrepreneur status for my consultant business in France (evaluation and strategy related to international development cooperation).
1) My main client (maybe the only one this year) is a company in other EU country willing to sign a one year contract with me for full-time consultant work. Do I need another/multiple clients to qualify for auto-entrepreneur status?
2) What happens if my revenue is higher than the EUR 72500 threshold by the end of the year?
3) If I know/suspect that I will end up beyond the threshold, would it be advantageous (tax/social fees) to set up another form of EI company instead? Ot is it fine yo start with AE?
