Auto-entrepreneur turnover limits for a carpenter?

I am a fully qualified carpenter specialising in renovation projects. After running a UK business for several years I am hoping to set up as an auto-entrepreneur but am coming to the conclusion it might not be right for me due to the turnover limits.

I don’t have great ambitions and 32,000€ less taxes and charges would be great, however, someone has pointed out that insurance for example could be in the region of 4000€ a year and all these charges would have to be taken in to account. I was hoping that my clients would pay for materials to keep my turnover low and the turnover figure would be the amount I invoice, not all my running costs as well. I will not be working full time as my wife works 3/4 time and we share the childcare.

To add a few more bits in, we own an apartment above ours with long term tenants and my UK company still exists but no longer functions - it is a UK Limited company and I am sole director. My major difficulty is fear about the unpredictable social charges and I would be more than happy to pay every month on the amount I earn, as I don’t have any savings to fall back on if the work doesn’t come in but still have to pay.

Which statut would you advise please, I can then research it and go from there.
