Can I be an auto-entrepreneur and work for a Canadian company?

I’m trying to determine what is the best solution for me to properly pay my income taxes and social contributions. My situation is a little unique. I already went to the hotel d’impots and they told me that perhaps the auto-entrepreneur system might be appropriate for me. Here is a summary of my situation:
- I am a French citizen, living in France. I have a wife who works for a French company, and three children aged 6, 4 and 3 who go to school here.
- I work remotely from my home here in France, for a Canadian company.
- The Canadian company pays me via wire transfer into my French bank account.
- The Canadian company provides no paperwork such as a bulletin de salaire, contract, etc.
- I receive about 10,000 euro per year from the Canadian company.
- I provide operations management services (IT management) for the Canadian company. My work is entirely virtual, and I have no physical office or expenses other than internet access, a cell phone and a laptop.
- The Canadian company is my only source of income, i.e. I have no other customers.
- Until 2013, I was a tax resident of Canada and I paid taxes only in Canada. However, I have now sold my home in Canada and purchased a home in France - so my tax accountant in Canada said I must now become a tax resident of France.
Do you have any idea how I should declare my income and pay taxes and social contributions in France? Should I register as an Auto-Entrepreneur? Are should I perhaps use a Societe de Portage (portage salarial)?
