Can I be an auto-entrepreneur whilst being sole trader business in UK?

My partner and I have recently moved to South West France and intend to set up a business, but are not yet sure of the best system to adopt. I have been running a carpentry business as a sole trader in England for the past twelve or so years, and wonder whether or not it would be possible to keep the business going whilst not being resident in England anymore. I also need to know whether or not it would be possible to set up as an Auto-Entrepreneur whilst keeping the business in England.

If so, could I put work through either business, keeping the turnover under the auto-entrepreneur threshold, and get access to French healthcare through paying cotisations on the auto-entrepreneur business? We’ve also learnt that as an auto-entrepreneur you can name a person on your carte vitale as cojoint. Does this entitle that person to health and / or social security benefits and does the person need to be either married to or in a Pacte Civile de Solidarite with the business owner?
