Carte Vitale - Is a new one required when becoming an auto-entrepreneur?

I already have a carte vitale from when I moved to France and started working here (under a CDD contract). Since I finished my work contract I have become an auto-entrepreneur. I have been sent the form to apply for a new carte vitale. Is it necessary to apply for a new one? Apologies if the answer is an obvious yes! I am still not sure how it works here!
