Changing from Maison Des Artistes to Auto-Entrepeneur

I’ve been with Maison des Artistes for several years. It’s a confusing regime. Under the Maison des Artistes there is very little information and a great deal of mystery as to what they actually do. So although it was once the reasonable thing for an artist to be involved in, I find that the apparent restrictions, on the activities you can profit from, the cap on earnings and the general difficulty in finding information, are too great to survive here at the moment, not to mention the paperwork.

I want to teach, set up conferences, organise events, etc. for the arts, as well as paint and I want to do all this with a clear mind. With no sense of anything hanging over me. No mysterious rule that I might be breaking. So that I can work without the sense of being monitored. I have the impression that Auto-Entrepeneur gives you this freedom. Is there anyone with experience of this. My main concern is that the paperwork will be too complex to make the change or that there will be some sort of penalty?
