Expense claims for auto-entrepreneur?

My understanding of the auto-entrepreneur set-up is that I cannot claim any expenses; tax and social charges are levied at a flat rate on turnover. Since my work tends to involve travel and hotel bills, is there another regime I should consider switching to, or is it possible to partially get round this by having my client pay the hotel bill. I only work irregularly and of course the simplicity of auto-entrepreneur is appealing - but not if I’m going to be seriously out of pocket.
