How is RSA calculated in France?

We receive revenu de solidarité active (RSA) as we are on a low income in France. I recently queried with Caisse d’Allocations Familiales (CAF) why our RSA had been reduced and they replied giving details of how the payment is calculated. They take our income amount and depreciation amount and add these together to make a total income. Is this correct? It seems very strange that depreciation is taken as income and if this is correct, why do the centre d’Impots not calculate this in our revenue?
