Invoice my own UK limited company as an auto-entrepreneur?
I need some advice about whether registering as an auto-entrepreneur is the right thing for my situation. I have been resident in France for the last 4 years. I have a limited company in the UK and I was registered as an office in France, of which I was counted as an employee. I had advice from KPMG in France but this was set-up before auto-entrepreneur was an option so that I could pay cotisations and am in the French system.
However I was in partnership and it didn’t work out so in January this year I dissolved the UK company and therefore I have also de-registered the French office. I sold half of my UK clients and kept some and set up a new Ltd Company in the UK - as all my clients are based in the UK. I have a small office in the UK and one part-time member of staff. However I want to continue paying my cotisations in France but I don’t think setting up as an office in France again is quite correct as all my clients are in the UK. At present I am just taking dividends from my UK company and paying social charges on these.
I also have other clients that deal solely with me by email and telephone and don’t have contact with my office in the UK at all, so I would be able to invoice these directly through the auto-entrepreneur. However would I have any problems if I also invoice my UK company as another customer through my auto-entrepreneur? I work from my home in France and only return to the UK 2 or 3 times a year.
