Recognising diplomas via Centre International d’etudes pedagogiques?

Having sent off all my required documents to my local Chambre de metiers, I have had a letter back saying that I need to send my certificates to Recognising Diplomas via Centre International d’etudes pedagogiques (CIEP) for recognition.
Do you know if this is a common request? Apparently it will cost me €70 and could take up to 7 months! I’m surprised they didn’t mention this when they asked for copies of my certificates after I filled in the online form, I’m a bit worried.
