A few of you bought your French property and moved to France this year.

You might be wondering whether you should be paying taxes foncière on your home.

The good news is no. The property taxes fonciere is due by the person who owned the property on 1st January. Unless mentioned otherwise in the acte de vente.

Here the legal text of law explaining this: https://www.impots.gouv.fr/particulier/questions/jai-achete-vendu-un-bien-immobilier-cette-annee-dois-je-payer-une-partie-de-la#:~:text=La%20taxe%20fonci%C3%A8re%20est%20due,du%20Code%20G%C3%A9n%C3%A9ral%20des%20Imp%C3%B4ts.
