Tax fonciere on rural gite

We opened a rural/ furnished gite in September 2018 (although we didn’t start trading until May 2019) that we rent out on a seasonal basis from May to October. The gite forms part of our home which is our primary residence. We have received a tax foncieres bill for 2018/2019 but we have read that we may qualify for an exemption on foncieres for the part of our house that we rent out. Is this correct and how to we inform the tax authorities?

Many thanks
Emily
