What are the portage salarial tax implications on moving to France?

I am a Canadian with UK citizenship and we are planning to move from Canada to France. I plan to keep working for the Canadian company I am working for now. We are a family of four. My Canadian company would switch me onto a hourly contract and keep paying me as a contractor, my salary would be about 80,000 euros. From what I have read the portage salarial seems to be the best fit, but I just want to be sure I have the tax implications right as they seem extraordinarily high—to the point it might stop us emigrating to France.

  1. From my calculations I would initially loose around 45% of my salary to the portage salarial employer social charges and fees?
  2. I would then have to pay income tax and employee social charges, about 7,000 euros for income tax and I am unsure if I would have to pay for employer social?
  3. This would take my 80,000 euros salary down to about 30,000 euros. Am I missing something, or could I go in another way to reduce my taxes?
