Two people who both have small farm businesses in France. The farms are too small to register with the mutualité sociale agricole (MSA) with anything other than the La cotisation de solidarité, which we have done. Even if you add the total area of both our farms we still don’t have enough land. We want to create a joint business, selling the Chickens, Guinea Fowl, Quail, Ducks, Geese, Turkeys, Pigeon and Rabbits we breed. We would like to sell on markets, in farmers shops and by mail order.

We would obviously like to pay the least amount of Cotisations as we are both too old to gain any pension and at the moment we are both covered with health care. We understand that a société civile d’exploitation agricole (SCEA) would be good for us, but we cannot find out the advantages and disadvantages of the SCEA or the qualifications to be a SCEA.

Can you tell us what is the best business set up for us?
