I currently work as a freelance translator in the UK, operating with Limited Company status. I’m a one-person operation and all my customers are based in France. My partner and I are looking at moving to France as she’s found a job back in her home town. We’re trying to decide if it’s financially worth our while going ahead with the move, but I’m finding it hard to make a clear comparison.

I’ve already decided that auto-entrepreneur business status isn’t for me as my turnover is above the threshold. I’m looking at creating either an entreprise unipersonnelle à responsabilité limitée (EURL) or the new entreprise individuelle à responsabilité limitée (EIRL), but I’m having trouble getting my head round exactly how much I can expect to pay in France in taxes and social charges. In the UK, corporation tax is 20%. Am I right in thinking that in France it would be 33% or thereabouts? Where does personal income come into the equation?
